I've noticed something about my characters here. All of them are very capable and somewhat experienced right off the bat. Technically, my chars are no more experienced than any other rookie on the board when they start, and yet they all come off as strong, capable, collected individuals. Particularly Siric. I can honestly say it is not intentional, but my chars just seem to come off that way. At least to me.
This is in contrast to my characters on Fire Emblem: Way of the Warrior. While they might be warmachines now, they all started off.... weak. Inneffective. Clumsy. Etc. Garnet is the exception to this over there. He always felt more capable than the other two at the start, even if he couldn't hold a candle to either of the others these days.
Perhaps it is an age thing. Siric and William are both 28. Delia is 25 I think, and Gemma is 22. Garnet was 22. Aaron was 18 and Clair was 17. Maybe I'm associating age with more experience. It does make sense in all of my histories for them to be cabable. Just commenting on a trend.
Anyone else feel like commenting on differences or thoughts about chars on WotW or other places vs AWay?

I'll bite, but my character base is kind of limited on this site.
Kazane was 16 when she started, and the first female main character I ever played. She started off weak, because the intent was always that she was gifted, but her youth made her unable to control it. Power wise, I am fairly sure Wyatt would be a good match for her right about now.
HOWEVER, where she beats him flat out is being a person. Wyatt always felt kind of bland to me, his interactions with Richter and Mana helped shape him more, but Kaz has had that personality since her first RP with Cal. I'd like to think it comes from my growth as a writer, that I can actually make a character that seems more real. With the right RP partners, this 'real' feeling becomes like RPing-Crack. Which is why (at least for me) some of us get very ansty about posting.
Valorian I got massive tired of because he's like an 'Angst Stu'. Just not fun to write anymore.
Aerious was OP from day one, so not terribly balanced there.
My issue with Gavyn is the same issue I have with using Wyatt in battle. Mighty Glacier characters tend to look overpowered, because in order to show off their ability they basically have to take a beating and demolish enemies with raw force. It's either all or nothing. Gavyn is difficult to nail the difference between 'strong' and 'OP' just right, but he's way easier then Aerious was.
Kazane is, easily, one of my favorite RP characters ever. I might like my teenage, isolated, haughty, genius from another forum, but it's close.

I just realized my characters have some trend. In WoTW my characters started with their parents dead or missing while in AWay Elandry and Sylvia still had their parents when started, Milly parents might be still alive (need to discuss this with Siric ^_^) Basically, my WoTW characters have worse starting point...great, this makes me feel bad.
My characters here relatively feel more mature than their sisters in WoTW. Elandry, Milly, and Sylvia started at 21, 25, & 22 years old. Hmm...maybe age really affect my writing.
Lucia hasn't developed much... >_> I have to do something about this lol.
Mana started rather weak. Asri was more capable, she lived a dangerous life of a criminal, after all.
Well, Elandry was dependable because she started with diligent personality and mentally strong, maybe rather impulsive about a few things but usually calm. Milly started carrying a darkness inside her heart which made her value life more than most people, because she knew that she probably didn't have tomorrow. Sylvia grew in noble family and learnt a few things from her father and brother who were very active and educated with politic, maybe it helped shaping her mind.
So far, I must say that my favorite character is Mana, Elandry is a close second. I enjoy their interaction with Wyatt and William. I think that Mana-Wyatt and Elandry-William could be considered as close friends now.
William & Wyatt...Their names start with "W". Maybe it is also a trend lol
EDIT : I didn't know Gavin = Kazane -_-

This is an interesting topic for me, seeing as I only have one character here and he only has two posts. However, so far I've observed that he's got the most personality of any of the other characters that I've played.
Maybe it's because Winsett and I had a long discussion about Hassan and what makes him tick before I even started writing his character app. Going into my first post, I had concrete ideas about how Hassan would act around others and what his motivations were. I've never really done that before.
With Marcus, I had a general idea that I wanted him to be a goofy, eccentric nonsensical type. When that never happened, he just became kinda bleh for a while, until I basically sent him out on his own to find himself, which actually turned out for the better, as I actually discovered what Marcus should have been from the start: a being of immense power with a mind too fragile to contain it. I just wish it hadn't taken a hundred or so posts to come to that conclusion.
Kelvin on the other hand started with some concrete ideas, but they relied on Merio to keep them going and as soon as he dissapeared, they fell apart. It could be said that this was Kelvin maturing and losing his reckless attitude, but I think that would be taking the easy way out. In my opinion, I'm beginning to get a better grasp on the character, but Kelvin still has a ways to go.
I won't go into much depth on either Stephan or The Duke, but needless to say, they had little to no personality and hence why I stopped playing them.
Now, the point of this rambling is basically to say, my characters turn out a lot better when I can figure out what makes them tick ahead of time. Which is exactly why I'm so excited to play Hassan.
